The Eugenia Price/Joyce Blackburn Foundation, in association with Golden Isles Arts & Humanities, recently announced that submissions for the 17th Annual Young Playwright’s Award. This award recognizes the literary talents of public and private middle school students in Glynn County. Any student who wishes to participate in the Young Playwright’s Award this year must either attend a playwriting workshop sponsored by Golden Isles Arts & Humanities or receive special permission to enter. The Young Playwright’s Award encourages middle school students to express their creativity through written dramatic form. The plays are “blind judged” by writers and theatre professionals; the winners receive a cash prize, three sessions to workshop their play with theatre professionals and a public staged reading. Originality, creativity and content are the basis of the judges’ decisions. Scripts must be submitted by 5 p.m. Nov. 14 to Golden Isles Arts & Humanities at the Ritz Theatre, 1530 Newcastle St., Brunswick.
