The Eulogies for Dhoni are still flowing in. Surely, His contribution to Indian cricket as a cricketer and captain have been outstanding and possibly unparallelled. But for me he failed the people of India. His silence on the IPL scam, dealings with Sahara, treatment of Laxman, products he endorsed, his company with the likes of Vindoo Dara Singh represent the person he is. After a point, he was out to protect his commercial interests. His decision to give up Tests and concentrate on the shorter form of the game is a dead give away. A person is known by the stand he takes and Dhoni failed at many crucial junctures. Any justification to the contrary only makes him a normal person, like you and me. For me Dhoni is a loyal party worker and BCCI the Congress, in the face if the biggest scams India ever confronted. He was a great cricketer, an even greater captain but he is not my hero.
