The Event: The event The Metal Gathering was originally planned to happen 3 years ago about May of 2010 by Jamez Salvaje Gargaritano vocalist of Mind Heart Blood, KNK & NETHERWORLD PRODUCTION founder & director. What triggered it to happen is the continues support of Metal enthusiast here in the Philippines whom wanted to see how glorious it was back then during the 1990s era of The Philippine Metal Underground scene. This event is not to spark a competition between the later Metal Musicians of today or even challenge the so called New Metal. The event was created to pay tribute to a great generation of Music which Netherworld Production the pilot creator and organizer of the event, believe that to be no other year than the nineties era. The event is fueled by kids who grew up in the nineties and proudly considering their era as the best generation who ever produced the best Musicians around the globe. Most of the bands chosen to play in the event were already been disbanded for a long time, mostly having their own individual lives now as an employee or businessman and has already changed from a brutal headbanger musician to a descent family man. Now, given the chance to play back on stage with a large Metal audience for a night all together in one roof just like the Old times they are back for you to see and enjoy. These bands were the Metal bands who became the heroes of todays Metal generation. The Old School bands unknowingly left a monumental trail for these Metal of today to follow, these older bands have made this younger bands of today to want to play the game. In comparison to Basket Ball, that if there were no Michael Jordan who could have inspire Kobe and Lebron to want to play the game. Who knows? The Old School Metal scene is just history or a story for us to remember, due to natural changes that we people grow up upon to and of course due to financial priorities that the Old Schoolers couldt always just stay playing around in a band that they wish to keep forever. Passion for what they wanted to do is not enough, they have their own family to provide for now and that will define their priorities in life, though there are still some lucky ones who could still sustain their passion and still play Metal at the age of 40 or more, but most likely these are the few lucky ones indeed. The Metal Gathering will feature the Old School Metal Bands of the 80s and 90s together with those 90s Metal bands who were part of the most popular Metal Compilation Album called SA KABILANG ANYO NG BUHAY which was released mid-nineties in a cassette tape. The event will also showcase the reunion of one of the pioneers of Death Metal of the Philippines which is KABAONG NI KAMATAYAN (KNK) who is lead by its only remaining founding member the Metal Drummer God Paul Magat. Though, the nineties era were more unfortunate compared today because of lack of resources when it comes to playing in a band specially in a Metal band. They cant just buy from a local magazine stand or a local record store for resources about other Metal bands around the world for reference and to listen to. They have to save money and order abroad sourcing merchandise out from limited store outlets and wait for months to have a copy of a new album by their favorite band. Unlike now where you could find everything you need as long as you have an Internet connection. Tough isnt it? Recording their songs were also a problem with the old generation of Metal Musicians, money wont be the only problem that you will have for you to get your songs or album recorded. You have to find a good recording studio first that allows Metal Music to be recorded and if they do allow Metal Music to be recorded, you will have to wait for a long line of schedules because the nineties were not only the generation of Metal Music, it is an era of a lot of good Musical genre and unfortunately they are the ones prioritized as customers of those recording studios. Still some Metal Bands got lucky to be able to record some of their original compositions and again unlike now, there are tons of digital recording studios you could choose from to record your songs with a recording package you cant even resist. Skill and ability are another story here, musicians before do not have Google or Youtube as such to learnt or to know how to master a song, a guitar riff, a drum roll or even find lyrics, this were all done using a cassette player, the cassette tape, a pen and a paper, you also use your pen to rewind your cassette tape if you need to rewind it back. Guitar tabs arent accurate enough to rely on. They use their ears most of the time to learn a song or learn music and believe me that is not so easy. And a lot more of other good stuffs were practiced during the nineties when it comes to the fashion, there was absolutely no fashion gods or fashion critic saying that you are a poseur because your Metal-shirt aint legit or a tshirt culture that you should come & buy from legit shop or shoes or bags or caps or pins. They know a way and that was DO IT YOURSELF the only way and thats what we believed in. Thats a brief view of the Philippine Metal Underground Scene 20 years ago. That is why the NETHERWORLD PRODUCTION believes that the 90s generation of Metal Music should be given the respect that they deserved. Therefore, that is going to happen on November 30, 2013 @ Crospoint Bar & Grill in Junction, Cainta Rizal. See these legendary Metal bands one more time all together in one night in one roof, a night of good heavy Metal Music from the Metal legends themselves, ready to take your souls away and blow your mind and ears away in the Old School Way!!!
