The Everlasting God! (Rom. 16:25-26) Introduction: 1. Time! How many of you here have ever tried to define time before? a. Almost everything we do and everything we know is held by time (Eccl. 3:1-17) yet we belong to the “timeless One!” i. Ps. 90:1-3 2. Sometime look up the definition of time, and I can assure you it will make your head spin! 3. God sets up time in the garden for man’s benefit! (Gen. 1:14) 4. God is not held by time, He lives outside of the boundaries of time! a. Ps. 90:4 b. 2 Pet. 3:8 5. God has either beginning or end, He is the eternal One! a. Jn. 1:1 Discussion: I. God is ______________________! A. Glorious = beauty, power, honor; a quality of God’s character that emphasizes His greatness & authority (Nelson’s Dict.) B. We find the word glory 380 times & glorious another 50 times in the Bible, that is a total of 430 times! 1. Ex. 24:16-17 C. Paul describing the character of God! 1. Col. 1:9-11 D. Do we truly give God glory? 1. Ex. 15:11 II. God is ______________________! A. Gracious = to show favor to those who are undeserving; to bless those who would be cursed! B. Two amazing things God does for His children! 1. He shows them mercy (Eph. 2:4) 2. He gives them grace (Eph. 2:5-8) C. When we sin, we become dead spiritually (Rom. 3:23; 5:12; 6:23) but yet God sent Jesus to die in our place so we could again live with Him! (Jn. 3:16; 2 Cor. 5:17-21) D. The Everlasting God is a God that is gracious to us! 1. Ps. 116:5 2. 2 Chron. 30:9 3. Ex. 34:6 III. God is ______________________! A. I have often found it most interesting to listen to people debate & argue over what is or is not “good!” B. Some have come to believe that one’s situation determines right from wrong, what is right for me, might not be right for them and vice versa! C. I have no desire to debate a list of right and wrong, but I would rather like for us to simply understand the principle of “what” determines right from wrong! God does!!! D. We must understand that God alone is good! 1. (Mt. 19:17) E. God is always good, God is always right! 1. It God says it is wrong to lie, then it is always wrong to lie! (Rev. 21:8) 2. If God says it is wrong to steal, then it is always wrong to steal! (Eph. 4:28) Conclusion: 1. Have you come to know “The Everlasting God?” 2. Have you come to know His glory, His grace and goodness in your life? 3. If not, then why not come to know Him even tonight! 4. One must hear (Rom. 10:17) believe (Jn. 8:24) repent (Act. 17:30) confess (Mt. 10:32) be baptized (Mk. 16:16) and live faithful (Rev. 2:10) 5. If you are a Christian, then let us never forget how great our God is an that He lives outside the restraints of time!
