From a comment below this article...."While a drug may be recognized in the U.S. as being problematic, as long as the maker cooperates they can continue marketing their drug in other countries. Sometimes it works the other way. Another country stop the company from marketing a drug in their country while it is till marketed in the U.S. The FDA does not do anything based upon findings in another country, they act only when they can no longer not. For those who are up in arms over this comment, I remind you to look at the history of Vioxx. Canada and several other countries removed Vioxx from the market at least two years before the U.S. did. Instead, the U.S. waited until it had killed approximately 50,000 people (2 years after the choice to put a warning label on it) before asking that the drug be withdrawn. It was no secret Canada had done this. But the FDA is undeniably more cozy with drug manufacturers than it is with the citizens it is designed to protect." Insanity!!
