The FDA has issued a recall of Deer Corn because it was contaminated with high levels of aflatoxin. This particular corn was distributed by Rural King Distributing of Matton, IL and it was sold (or is being sold) in 50 lb packages with green, black and brown camouflage bags. The UPC Code is 68913948193. Please advise any consumers that purchased this corn to return it to the retail store where it was purchased and they will receive a full reimbursement. The Corn was distributed to IL, IN, MO, TN, KY, OH and MI. Alfatoxin at high concentrations is fatal to some animals. If you get calls of someone feeding and they notice animals that are sluggish, unthrifty, lethargic, with a reluctance to eat and have a yellowish tint to the eyes or diarrhea, these are signs of aflatoxin poisoning. This applies to both birds and mammals and birds are particularly sensitive to aflatoxin (incluiding quail and turkeys). If consumers have questions about the recall they can contact customer service at 800-561-1752.
