The FIRST WAVE WENT TO THE VET TODAY! The first four went to see Dr. Jeff. These were the four that we deemed to be in the most need of medical attention. The first one pictured is Ms. DEE DEE. She is seven years old and will remain with us for a while we evaluate her long term needs. You see she had been with another home (prior to cioing back to this lady), escaped the yard and was hit by a car. Someone did surgery on her hip and leg...however the bones were permanently damaged. That leg is useless to her right now. We want to try some various meds to see if we can at least get her comfortable. Then another assessment can be made to see if that leg can be strengthened. Prayers please for this baby. She also has some skin issues that we are hoping will clear with the good quality food. She is under weight. Blood work will be back tomorrow. Next we have YOGI. He is a collie / sheltie mix that they had gotten from a shelter a year ago. He has a deformed left front leg. Xrays show that at some point in his life it was crushed and left to heal on its own. He has attempted to compensate but now that hes older will need a leg brace to add support to that leg and take the pressure off of the other legs. He has some wounds/ scars on the right side of his face and is underweight. He is a pretty boy but we expect him to be gorgeous when the good nutrition kicks in and he gains some weight. Next we have Booty. She is five years old and a bit shy but will warm up easily with a few pets. She has some skin issues from fleas and some redness that we expect to clear up with the food change. If that doesnt happen then a thyroid test is in her future. She is also a bit too thin. Finally we have 12 year old Gemini. She is already spayed and now current on vaccines. She is a real sweetheart. She loves your attention. She has one eye that doesnt produce enough tears so she will need drops in it for the rest of her life. Blood work to be completed at a later date. If you are a senior citizen and wanting to adopt one of these senior dogs...you can adopt it for free thru our senior for senior program...a win-win situation for both. For more information email us at cenohsheltieresc@aol. Thank you for your continued support...the bills are beginning to pile up as four more go to the vet tomorrow....eventually all seniors will have blood work completed but we would like to get some weight on and skin cleared up first. Then we will complete it just before spays and neuters. All are eating well and settling in...some werent quite sure they appreciated the snow or not! All are cozy and warm!
