The Fall colors were running quite late this year, with some reds and yellows and oranges just starting to show. A light nip of frost may have set the leaves aglow, but it appears that long, deep freeze a couple of nights ago has ruined it for this year. We took a drive out by the Augusta and Herman areas today, and while most of the leaves are still pretty much green, they appear to be rapidly changing straight to brown. The color that was showing last weekend is also muting into brown. So for all my fellow aesthetics out there: the birds are migrating, the pelicans are a spectacle to watch, and the eagles will be returning soon. Theres still time to get out and enjoy yourselves before the snows fly. Visit a roadside farm stand anyway, Im sure they could use the business if the leaves all drop without a color show.
