The Far North District Council are facing similar funding issues. We have 2530km of roaidng with just 848 of that sealed. Our ratepayers simply cannot afford to pay higher rates and our share of the regional fuel taxes has been capped and is no longer inflation adjusted. Some of the conversations are becoming quite alarming such as no longer maintaining sections of roads, closing bridges, ripping up tar seal and closing some roads.
