The Farr Side w/e 6th October 2013 Monday Where did all the water go? Off the gauge today, very few fish showing but we managed 1 out the Dish on the Sunray, Pink hen 5 lbs out the Cromweil also. We are now desperate for water. Tuesday It’s dropping hard now and starting to run out of water to fish. Old fish showing in the pools but not that many. The bottom of the river is very slippy now and the boys do not like wading the Dish. Cromweil is also difficult to wade with so much dirt on the bottom cant see three feet, it needs a good clean out with a flood. Wednesday Change in the air and it’s looking like it might rain soon and its getting colder which will help. 1 fish out the Copper Beech on the Sunray, lost another!! 3 fish seen moving in this pool in the morning. We pulled 1 and caught 1. Ravenswood had 1 so fish on the move anticipating the rain I think. 1 fish out the Stream in the afternoon, 16 lbs, fast tip on the biggest Black Francis I could find, first cast Rob Orr the happy angler. Thursday Change of rods today the Gregg party. Only 2 rods today water still low water not much showing. Disappointing day with no fish. Friday Some rain over night, water only up 2 inches at 8 am where did all the rain go last night, 1 fish lost in the Dish and 1 landed out the Stream and another lost. The promised morning water came in the pm but only up to1 foot on the gauge with a little colour. Saturday Water 11 inches with some colour not much showing today and there should be lots of them at this time of year. Disappointing but 1 fish out the Dish with lice on 5lbs, no other pulls all day. Other Well done all those catching fish and special mention to Rob Orr who caught his biggest Salmon so far on the fly at 16lbs. Hopefully get some water very soon, there is a rumor that someone out diving just of the mouth of the Tweed said there are huge numbers of Salmon waiting to come in, lets hope so!!!
