The Ferguson riots have been disheartening, to say the least. 25 buildings were burned to the ground, ruining the lives of hundreds. But what happened to a young man named DeAndre Joshua, was much worse than losing a job or business. At 9 a.m. Tuesday morning, a resident of an apartment complex spotted the body of DeAndre Joshua inside a parked car. The car was described as a white Pontiac Grand Prix, near the same apartments where Michael Brown was shot. Witnesses said that blood and glass surrounded the car. Joshua’s family claims that he was shot during the riots that started after the decision was made not to indict Officer Darren Wilson. Relative Brian Joshua, 45, sobbed saying, “I’m still stunned because he never had any problems. He was a good kid,” DeAndre Joshua’s mother was pacing and visibly upset near the car where the body was found, “They killed my baby,” she cried. DeAndre Joshua graduated from high school and worked at Walmart for over a year as a stocker. Dacona Smith, a senior vice president for operations at Walmart, said, “We are deeply saddened to learn the news that one of our Walmart family members tragically lost his life,” Joshua’s grandmother, Renita Towns, said she had little hope that police would investigate and learn the cause of her grandson’s death claiming, “Police don’t care – he’s black,” Family members say he was also robbed of his possessions. Police do not know if that was the motive of the killing or if the robbery happened after his death. St. Louis County Police officer Rick Eckhard addressed the death saying, “This incident is currently being classified as a suspicious death and will remain so until evidence allows a different classification,” A man who lives very near the crime scene said he saw a group of people with guns outside of the complex. He said the group was talking about looting and said they wanted to kill someone. Taylor said he called the police to report the men with guns and their statements, but no officers came to the area that he saw.
