The Fifth Circuit is holding oral argument today in Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas cases on the question of whether the citizens of those states have the right to maintain the traditional definition of marriage as being between a man and a woman. Whatever the outcome, I was proud to have the opportunity to draft a friend of court brief in support of Mississippis marriage laws. Im also proud of states like Louisiana that took this important and sensitive question seriously enough to retain a constitutional law expert to draft briefing and argue the case and for its Attorney General to show up today.
