The FijiFirst has now called on the Police and the Electoral - TopicsExpress

The FijiFirst has now called on the Police and the Electoral Commission to take action in relation to comments made by Laisenia Qarase in a campaign meeting in Davuilevu. Qarase claimed in a campaign meeting attended by about 80 people that the reason why the candidate numbers in the ballot paper will start from 135 is because it is connected to verse 135 of the Quran which talks about justice. Qarase then went on to claim to the people sitting in the room that this is Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum’s plan to fulfill his dream. FijiFirst Leader, Voreqe Bainimarama said this statement shows the desperation of Qarase, a man who cannot stand for elections, and his party SODELPA. The FijiFirst said Qarase’s absurd and unintelligent statement can be quickly dismissed by a simple Google search that will show that the word justice appears several times in several chapters and several verses in the Quran like in many other religious texts including the Bible. The FijiFirst said it is quite obvious that SODELPA is now resorting to xenophobia and religious discrimination. It said that SODELPA’s desperation is so advanced that they are looking for a conspiracy everywhere. Bainimarama said in doing so SODELPA now has no shame or fear about causing intolerance and promoting communal hatred ‑ an affront to the teachings of Jesus Christ. The FijiFirst hopes the police will investigate this matter. It also said that it hopes that the Electoral Commission will take some meaningful action to stop such disgraceful conduct. Bainimarama said it is very sad to think that this man was once the Prime Minister of our country. fijivillage/news/FijiFirst-calls-on-Police-and-Electoral-Commission-to-take-action-after-Qarases-comments-9k25rs/
