The Final Page: "In The Spirit of ALL" My children are grown. I - TopicsExpress

The Final Page: "In The Spirit of ALL" My children are grown. I have no grand-children as yet. But I am an uncle many times over, and I fear for my children and your children more now in your suburban schools than my mother and my father’s parents feared for them under the “Jim Crow Laws” of the segregated South. The irony is not lost on any of us, is it? Whatever it was that you were running from, you seem to have brought along with you. Nothing can change our past. Its truth is undeniably a life’s lesson and a spiritual wake-up call for all of humanity to take note. But it offers little more than this unless we commit to absolve our differences in a noble effort to heal each member of the family and of this nation. Apathy cannot rule a democracy or produce a stable home; its too lazy of a leader to rely on. It is self-evident that no kind of progress in any walk of life is possible unless there is a set object, a definite ideal before us to inspire us to self-exertion. Where world leaders may fail, the truth cannot. And it will not. Whatever history will come to say of the founders of this nation, it would be fair to say that they got at least one thing right: The right to practice here any and every religion, to worship as one chooses. The differences amongst the world religions are as many as they are in number, but what is common amongst them is undeniably “the implied moral standard” of this nation and should be, from here forward, recognized as such. It is the truth that our hearts are aching to hear, the words and sounds of the birth of a “Universal Brotherhood of Man.” It is the truth that wars have been fought over their differences and ours. They are waging, still. But the stakes are far higher, today. And I am afraid that even “simple apathy” has just cause to be concerned with how quickly and totally one’s life can be changed by the whim of another, a neighbor’s child or your own. The direction and the course of our journey has been mapped out for us long ago - not in the stars but in our hearts, and in the nobility it contains. It has never been and may never be otherwise. On what foundation are we to attempt to build and to ensure a better future if it is not on that which speaks best of our past and asks the best of our present and of ourselves? For a new millennium, may I suggest a new paradigm in which the mothers of this nation chart for humanity a new and more noble course than what has been suggested by the men and the history of this nation and of the world? You, alone, are uniquely able. And you are freer now than you ever were to face GOD and reveal, to all who would doubt it, “the ancient wonders” of the inner world and its outer expression of truth. The mothers and elders of Africa can help, survival is their specialty. They make no difference between the spiritual and the secular. It is what has kept us alive. This time, fair exchange is not robbery. You have only but to “willingly” submit to the will of GOD and honor the best in both your parents’ hearts, as their noble heir. Nobility was never in the blood. It is clear, now. It has always come from the heart of the mother, and it still does. This, most men can prove for themselves with one simple honest test of their own heart. All it takes is the courage to confess to their mothers the sins of their lives and express their sincere desire to obtain absolution in the remainder of her life. If she is a mother like mine, she will say: “Thank you, Lord, for returning to me a son who loves and honors his mother enough to have earned each of us, on this day, our place in heaven.” All of your heart will open for her, and all of hers in return. Fear not. The Holy Qur’an says: “Nothing but good must be the return for good.” Only ego prevents it today. You cannot buy this devotion, truth is not for sale. But it will make of you a noble man, and a wiser one as well. Bear witness, America: There is no GOD but GOD and Mohammed is the Messenger of GOD. Willie Ivory Carpenter, Jr.
