The Finale of A Journey Through Time VIII A Journey Through Time VIII took place from 21 to 28 November 2014 and showcased rare private collections, first-in-market editions and exquisite pieces from over 125 luxury brands. In accordance with tradition, the highlight of the closing gala was the Watch and Jewellery Awards presentation ceremony. A speech was made by Mr. Joseph Yeoh, the Vice President of YTL Land & Development, YTL Hotels & Properties after the welcoming note by Dato’ Yasmin Yusuff, Master of Ceremony and the Best of AJTT VII video presentation. Proud to note the installment has been the most eclectic and well-received to date, he stated that the judges have informed him that this year’s nominees were the most challenging to select as each and every entry was of the highest calibre. “These Awards are significant as the judges overseeing the selection are some of the most highly respected individuals in the watch and jewellery industry.” A total of eight categories of Awards were presented during the evening, throughout the five course dinner. WATCH WITH COMPLICATIONS IN MOVEMENT AWARD - ULYSSE NARDIN STRANGER MUSICAL WATCH 4. TIMELESS JEWELLERY AWARD - GARRARD SNOWDROP NECKLACE 5. THE JUDGES CHOICE AWARD - SPEAKE MARIN RESILIENCE 6. THE YTL SPIRIT OF CLASSICAL ART AWARD - CECIL PURNELL V-16 GMT DOUBLE TOURBILLON 7. MINISTRY OF TOURISM & CULTURE MOST REVERED AWARD - BREGUET CLASSIQUE 5335 GRANDE COMPLICATION TOURBILLON MESSIDOR The award winners were selected by an international panel of 5 qualified judges, namely Dr. Masanori Kondon, Mr. Yoichiro Ban, Mr. Thierry Gasquez, Mr. Su Jia Xian and Dr. Bernard Cheong, the lead judge who remains the only Asian who has presided over both the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie and the Foundation de la Haute Horlogerie. Guests were blown away at 10pm by renowned singing sensation Carly Paoli, Brand Ambassador of Bedat & Co. and the Mezzo soprano in Residence where she made her spectacular international debut recently at the brand’s charity event in Canada alongside celebrated musician, David Foster. At the young age of only 24, her voice embodies an era of style in music that is unparalleled; a style that compliments perfectly with the luxurious atmosphere at A Journey Through Time VIII.
