The Finals SHOWDOWN - The Experienced Smart Choice Delaware vs. The Flamboyant Rebels And there we have it. After a 4-month long grueling season, we have reached the best phase of the tournament – THE FINALS. It is between the veteran Smart Choice Delaware vs. the young-guns Rebels. Rebels thumped the 2013 Champions Paki-Hawks in the quarter-finals, and 2013 Runners-up Collegeville in the semi-finals to get here. Smart Choice Delaware on the other side made an entry into 2014 playoffs race as a wildcard team, but since then, they have beaten Prior in the Pre-quarterfinals, 2013/2014 #1 ranked team LVCC in Quarter Finals, and Darkhorse Planets in the Semi-finals to get here. So both are ready for this FINAL SHOWDOWN!!! GPCL in its infant 2-yrs history will already experience a new Champion on Sunday 10/5/2014, and that tells about the competitive nature of the league, and the competition in the area. LVCC, Planets, Collegeville, Prior, Echelon, Haverford, Paki Hawks, Stumperz2, Khyber, Titans fought hard to make it to Top 12, but in the end lost the fight to Smart Choice Delaware and Rebels. Talking about this final alone, this match cannot disappoint anyone. Rebels are a completely packed unit; their batsmen have scored over 300 runs in the last two games, and have restricted opponents to less than 200 runs. They have humbled 2013 finalists alike, and are looking to do the same against Smart Choice Delaware and grab their maiden title in the first year of their existence. On the other side, Smart Choice Delaware relies on its batsmen to score lots of runs to pose any threat. Their bowling and fielding is on the weaker side, and in order to ensure any challenge, they have to score in excess of 250+ runs. Toss is very crucial for both the teams but more importantly for Smart Choice Delaware. Smart Choice Delaware cannot let Rebels bat first and score freely. They have to bat first and make Rebels chase a score of 250+. Rebels on the other hand are very comfortable batting first, but given their team strength, they probably wouldnt mind chasing either, however it will be interesting to do that for the first time in an important game. On paper, no doubt Rebels are the strongest and favorites to win this game. The finals pressure however might get to Rebels, and this is where Smart Choice Delaware team scores majority of the points. They have all the experience they need to pull a surprising victory. Request all GPCL teams and families to show your presence and cheer up your favorite team and players, when they take the field on Sunday at Evansburg. Good luck to both the teams.
