The Firs Lower School was closed on Monday afternoon, as unfortunately their mains electricity supply failed and the school was without power. It was reported this had been caused by a cable that had been accidentally damaged by builders in the local area. This meant that the school had no telephones working and the fire alarm had ceased to function. In addition the heating was not functioning. The only course of action was to close the school with apologises for the inconvenience this caused. However it can be confirmed that all is back to normal and the school will be open as usual on Tuesday morning.
