The First Phillippine National Bike Day last Sunday, November 23 was a blast! Arceli, Joy and I rode from our place in Paco, Manila to Greenhills for the North route of the event. It was fun until my rear tire blew out along Nagtahan going to Espana. We ditched the ride from that point on and to make it up to my two charming riding buddies, I brought them to Bulaluhan sa Espana as a peace offering, hehehe :-) The only thing I noticed is how far our country is towards bike equality. As the big group passed by one intersection in Manila, there was this sharply-dressed, middle aged lady in her car honking her horn continuously when she can clearly see that she wouldnt be going anywhere until all of us passed by. A friend who rode the South route said he experienced a similar situation when an impatient motorist even had the nerve to shout out tax payer ako! As if the hundreds of cyclists werent tax payers themselves. What an asshole! Anyway, here are some photos :-)
