The Fish climb up to 7th with another 4 point weekend, this time against old pub rivals Walnut Wanderers. The first game again started cautiously with both teams feeling each other out, the only real chances coming from corners, Steve Hayman and Dan Humphrey both coming close. The second half saw both teams taking a few more risks and Walnut went one up after Dan Humphrey gave the ball away, Walnut countered and scored. The Fish rallied for their captain and replied straight away when a few chances coming in quick succession, Mark Amondson flicked a cross which seemed to have crossed the line, the rebound found Dan Parks who was fouled in the penalty area, Dan Parks dusted himself down and buried the resulting penalty, the Fish pushed for a winner but couldnt quite crack the walnut defense. The first game ended 1-1 Game two see a different Fish side take to the field with manager Craig Young using hes full squad, this time led out by Julian Papandrea. The Fish looked fresh and started to take charge of the game with Ian Brown bossing the midfield and Matt Stammers causing havoc on the wing. The Fish then broke the deadlock with Dean Young bravely climbing for a header to set up Ian Brown who scuffed a shot into the bottom corner. One quickly become two, when Luke Charleston whipped in a cross for Dan Parks who rose like a salmon to head the ball home. The Fish needed to defend well to keep the walnut out and some good defending and goalkeeping by Gary Arlott kept chances to a minimum although Walnut did get a consolation but it was to little to late, the fish won 2-1.
