The Flatirons are iconic monoliths shaped between 60 to 90 million - TopicsExpress

The Flatirons are iconic monoliths shaped between 60 to 90 million years ago at least geologically speaking. 60,000 feet of sand from a sea that evaporated leaving the beaches to harden in the sun like concrete. Then thrust skyward by the plate tectonic uplift smattered with a few years of heat, wind, freezing, ice, thawing, rain mixed with flooding to improve erosive factors and a few days of snow to mix it up. The Flatirons in Boulder held my attention closely for a little more than a decade.I lived in a miners cabin at 7th & Cascade one block away from them. Rent? $225/month for 10 years. Total space upstairs and basement about 750 sq ft. Enough to live in and develop as an entrepreneur and artist. Great years living so close to Chautauqua Park and access to everything Boulder. I was always out the door before sunrise when a fresh snow had been delivered the night before. This shot was taken with a Pentax 67II, Fuji Velvia 50 ISO Film, 55mm lens at f11 and 1.75 seconds. The eBook: Boulder Yesterday & Today and Fine Art Prints are available at robertcastellino or call 303-887-7592 to order — at Flatirons- Chautauqua Park. Yes this image has been enhanced using NIC Collection Filters and Photoshop! But the original is a gem.
