The Flood Control Project - if you have some photos, please share. Attached are a couple from my backyard on S. Center St, 1960 and 1964 I believe. We heard about the project when I was in 4th grade and then for 4 years we had Caterpillar D7s, D8s, and the big D9s along with the Euclid earth movers carving up the banks of the Tuna creek. Half our back area went over to the other side to shallow the bend in the creek. Then came the pile drivers and thousands of yards of concrete. The pile driver was blue and when they made a mistake they pulled the piling out with a red unit. Finally, they brought in boulders, about 3 in diameter. A crane with a 1000 lb ball broke them up and then the Army Corp. of Engineers sledge hammered to smaller rocks that lined the banks. Today the banks are overgrown but that took close to 15 years to happen. The bridge in the background was replaced a few years ago (I outlived a bridge) and before that the old steel truss bridge had stood from either 1888 or 1898, it was one of those years. Some years ago I suggested to the ERA they have a special edition on the Flood Control but I dont think that happened.
