The Flying Eagles have been hit by injuries to key players and this may force them not to play any test games before a 2015 AYC return leg qualifier against Tanzania. Central defenders Wilfred Ndidi and Izu Omego again stayed away from training on Thursday morning at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium after injuries they picked up in an AYC second round, first leg clash in Tanzania on Sunday. Ndidi is nursing a right knee complaint, while Omego is carrying an ankle problem. Kelechi Iheanacho did not feature fully in training as a result of a hamstring. “These injuries may force us not to play any test match before our match against Tanzania,” disclosed a worried coach Manu Garba. However, the cheering news for the Nigeria U20s is that FC Porto forward Chidera Eze has recovered fully from a hamstring injury and Bernard Bulbwa is also fit after a groin injury. The Flying Eagles host the Ngorongoro Heroes of Tanzania on Saturday, May 24, in an AYC second round, second leg match. Nigeria won the first match 2-0 in Dares Salaam.
