The Forest Industry should be localized to develop and sustain PNG only The forest sector should not be exposed to foreigners to exploit. The industry does not need sophicited technology, equipment and machineries to operate. Nor it needs extensive capital costs or skilled labour. The industry can be localized for PNGeans to operate themselves in a more sustainable and transparent manner. I dont see the logic for foreign domination of the forest industry. Papua New Guineans are still living in bush huts and in settlements struggling to meet the high cost of living when we can easily log our own timbers and develop a housing scheme to improve the quality of life and living standard of our own people. Why we are sustaining the growth and development of other countries when our own people and country needed the resources for the same purporse? We must all know that our land and sea boundaries are not infinite. One day the natural laws will come into play and halt our own going ability to extract more of our natural resources. When that day comes we will be already dead and gone without any legacy for the future generations to embrace. While we are still here, we must know that our country is struggling to maintain a delicate balance between our increasing demands for the resources and our greed for wanting everything for ourselves while we are still alive. We all going to die one day like the the way we born but we are not going to take the future with us to our graves. We can shape the future for better or for worse.
