The Forrest Grove fire has just been downgraded to an advice level. Heres more info: Bushfire ADVICE for Forrest Grove Road, Drummond Road and Sebbes Road in Forrest Grove in the Shire of Augusta Margaret River ALERT LEVEL: A bushfire ADVICE has been issued for people near Forrest Grove Road, Drummond Road and Sebbes Road in Forrest Grove in the Shire of Augusta Margaret River. • The alert level for this fire has been downgraded as the fire is now contained. • There is no threat to lives or homes but there is a lot of smoke in the area. • Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes. • The fire started near Sebbes Road. BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR: • The bushfire is stationery. • It is contained but not under control. • Firefighters are expecting the wind to change from south south easterly to easterly tonight. WHAT TO DO: • Stay alert and monitor your surroundings. • Watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames. • Close all doors and windows, and turn off evaporative air conditioners but keep water running through the system if possible. • Read through your bushfire survival plan. • If you do not have a plan decide what you will do if the situation gets worse. IF DRIVING: • Be extremely careful when driving through the area. • Turn your headlights on and drive slowly. • Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions. • If you cannot see clearly, pull over, keep your headlights and hazard lights on, and wait until the smoke clears. • If you have a respiratory condition and you have been affected by smoke you should contact your local doctor or call Health Direct on 1800 022 222. ROAD CLOSURES: Avoid the area and be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel working on site. WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING: • Ninety volunteer Fire and Rescue Service, Bush Fire Service and Department of Parks and Wildlife firefighters from number of six stations are on the scene. • Firefighters are mopping up and strengthening containment lines. • Three homes, a large haystack and one hundred head of cattle have been saved. • Aerial support is no longer required. • Shire of Augusta Margaret River are in attendance. EXTRA INFORMATION: • The incident was reported at 3.15pm on Sunday 25 January. • The cause of the fire is unknown. • The fire has currently burnt 10 hectares. • Smoke will travel as far as Gnarabup and Prevelley townsites this evening. • People are asked to report any suspicious behaviour to Police Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. • The Shire of Augusta Margaret River is managing the fire.
