The Four-Part Chorale that ends J.S. Bach Cantata 180 had been on - TopicsExpress

The Four-Part Chorale that ends J.S. Bach Cantata 180 had been on my mind all day. It is one of my favorites. Here is the source, the rest of which is very nice. The opening chorus, based on the chorale tune, is beautifully orchestrated. The tempi here are good, slow, so you can hear the parts. This is a wonderfully consoling work. The arias are not based on the chorale, but are each wonderful in their own way, but it is the four part setting at the end, that is wonderful. I had posted sometime ago the wonderful chorale prelude BWV 564 from the Leipzig set of organ chorales ( 18 additional chorales). I may repost a link to it below. The chorale is about the Communion for Oct 22, 1723, or about 22nd Sunday after Trinity, so it is not in the current season, but it is wonderful any time. https://youtube/watch?v=36Zk8oRXvzY
