The Frederick County Financial Literacy Coalition (FCFLC) is sponsoring a free Poverty Simulation on Monday, August 5th from 11:00 am to 4:30 pm and would like to invite you to attend. This interactive workshop allows participants to assume the role of a family member facing poverty by going through a variety of stations throughout the exercise. At the close of the simulation there will be a debriefing where participants will have the opportunity to discuss and reflect on their experience along with learning ways to assist those who are living in poverty in Frederick County. Come join with caseworkers, guidance counselors, mental health professionals, county government and non-profit staff to get hands on experience on what it is really like to live in poverty. Information on local resources will be available. Lunch and light refreshments will be served. Space is limited and advanced registration is required. Please register by clicking here bit.ly/13j1daG. We look forward to seeing you at the Poverty Simulation. Feel free to contact Brian D. Duchon at [email protected] or at 301-663-4231 if you have any questions. The FCFLC focuses on promoting financial literacy and stability offerings throughout Frederick County, hosting a financial literacy kickoff event, maintaining a financial literacy resource webpage and supporting VITA sites through resource development efforts. FCFLC partners include: United Way of Frederick County, Housing Authority of the City of Frederick, Frederick Community Action Agency, MD CASH Campaign, Interfaith Housing Alliance, 2-1-1, The Mental Health Association, The University of Maryland Extension, Frederick County Bank, Seton Center, the FDIC and Advocates for Homeless Families.
