The French cellist Lucienne Radisse (1899–1997) plays Barcarolle from Offenbachs Les contes dHoffmann with Jean Doyen at the piano in 1931. Radisse, a cellist of good reputation and a singular personality, was highly appreciated by Casals who did say that she turns her instrument into an almost heavenly lyre, and has played a long time at the radio. She has recorded chamber with Jean Doyen. Nicknamed the flying cellist she was also actress, pilot, daredevil and race car driver.
