The Friends of Scouting annual campaign is the major fundraiser for the Pine Burr Area Council. Each Fall we ask our Scouting families and alumni to help pay for the privilege of having our own council office in the hub City of Hattiesburg, MS. Not merging with larger councils has allowed us to maintain a tremendous amount of local control and direct community involvement in our programs. Fees that families pay their Packs, Troops and Crews cover only the cost of National fees and their own unit activities. None of those funds support the Pine Burr Area Council. We estimate the cost of maintaining L. O. Crosby, Jr. Scout Reservation ( including Camp Tiak ), the Scout Shop, council service center and staff at $228 per year per Cub / Scout/ Venturer / Explorer member. We ask that families and alumni consider a donation to support Pine Burr Area Council, BSA program services. If families and alumni are unable to support the Pine Burr Area Council, BSA at $228 level, we ask them to make a gift according to their means. Gifts can be made in installments by check or credit card. Donate today! Our goal is 100% participation from our Scouting families. All annual gifts to the Pine Burr Area Council, BSA are tax deductible, and corporate matching gift forms may be available at your company human resources office.
