The Frying Pan roared through Seiad on the south side of the river yesterday afternoon/evening. It brought back the memories of the Goff Fire, but this was even more horrifying. It raced across the ridge south of town and into Caroline, across Walker Creek up Slinkard Ridge and up to Slinkard Peak. Took a drive upriver after dark and there is fire all the way up to ONeil Creek. Lots of roll out, but nothing across Hwy 96. It will be to the Hwy in spots overnight. The battle to save the Ranch and the other homes out Grider & Walker continues today. Hopeful for continued north winds to keep the fire away from structures. There have been no structures lost in Seiad !!! There was a 1 acre spot across the hwy, 3 miles east of Seiad, between the road and the river. They caught it.
