The G-20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors had a meeting in Sydney over the weekend. (22 - 23 Feb 2014). *See G-20 list below. The concept of the G-20 was proposed by a Canadian, former PM Paul Martin! He saw the need for such an organisation. The G-20 economies account for more than 80% of the worlds economy, production and trade. This is the Pareto 80/20 Principle in action! The G-20 brings together only Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors. Countries leaders do not attend. The G-20 does not have a secretariat or a permanent office. Their purpose and mission is to promote global growth and job creation, and financial stability. They meet once a year. The GROUP OF 20 are: 1. European Union - The 9th member of the G8 2. United States - Also a member of the G8 3. China 4. India 5. Japan - Also a member of the G8 6. Germany - Also a member of the G8 7. Russia - Also a member of the G8 8. Brazil 9.
