The GOP does not want to have government succeed at building a productive society. To do that would mean government doing more for the people. Which would in turn justify taxing to improve the nation. This is a tax burden which would inevitably fall on large corporations, they have the most resources. So, they prefer to allow the country to fall into disrepair and ruin, rather than have government work. Its all about keeping large corporations from getting taxed, above all else.
