The Game of Death: You Shall be Counted The living does not - TopicsExpress

The Game of Death: You Shall be Counted The living does not outnumber the dead, yet the earth boast of not less than 7 billion people. If we are to assign a dead to every living, the sharing will go round for not less than 10 times and each living will end up with at least 10 dead. Have you ever tried to count the number of your dead relatives? How many were you able to remember? If you haven’t, please try doing that now and you would be held in awe! In an attempt to justify the various scientific researches about the number of people who have died since the beginning of live which gives an approximate range of about 69 to 100 billion, I tried to engage myself in a game of memory. In this game, there are rules and regulations just like every other game. You are to count only those people whom you knew and must have met with at least once before their demise. For example, I couldn’t count Umar Yar adua, Dr. Adebgite, Da Grin and the likes because I have never met them before. I did not count my brother’s friend or my friend’s brother (or relatives) except if those people are defined under the stated condition. . . . . Let the game begin. As few as I could count, I scored more than 50! I did not stop because I couldn’t count further, but I purposely observed a pause to reflect. As I count, someone else might be counting. Who knows? I might just be the next count of the counter! I remembered the slogan in censor 2006 “Be counted”. Again in 2011 election it was “let your vote count”, but then in the game of death, it’s. . . . . . “YOU SHALL BE COUNTED” You shall be counted; whether old or young, male or female, foolish or wise, black or white. If more than 69 billion people could die without the earth falling, you shall be counted. If a baby could die as soon as it is born, you shall be counted. Your friends, your teachers, your brothers, you sisters have been counted, you shall be counted. Whether sooner or later, whether home or abroad, the counter is counting, you shall be counted.
