The General Election is months away and Joyce Bowlsbey is already distancing herself from her primary election promises. You might remember the below mailer that was sent out to thousands of Cecil County voters. The very first declaration on this mailer states very clearly that Joyce Bowlsbey will fight tax increases if elected to County Council. So what happens when a citizen calls on her to uphold her pledge to fight tax increases? Watch her outrageous response in this eye-opening video by clicking here or on the screenshot below. The exchange between the citizen and Bowlsbey took place at a public hearing on a bill that would... ...reduce the maximum allowable assessment on property, and therefore limit tax increases on the property owners in Cecil County. This is the same bill that Council President Hodge opposed because he said that he didnt want the council to lose the ability to raise taxes. At the public hearing, the citizen came armed with the above mailer to remind Bowlsbey of her pledge to fight tax increases. Her response was shocking. She mumbled something under her breath and then when questioned, she said I did not have that printed, It came from CBL. The CBL she is referring to is the Cecil Business Leaders for Better Government PAC, who Bowlsbey is a former Board Member of. The CBL endorsed and sent out campaign literature for Bowlsbey, George Patchell and Dan Schneckenberger during the primary election. Bowlsbeys rejection of her own campaign literature raises several disturbing questions. Is Bowlsbey flip-flopping on her campaign promise of fighting tax increases and throwing the CBL under the bus as an excuse? She certainly never refuted the mailers during the primary when she was working to win the conservative vote of this county. Or, did the CBL flat-out lie and put whatever they thought the voters wanted to hear on the mailers in order to get their candidates elected? If so, that would make the promises on Patchells and Schneckenbergers mailers dubious at best. Which is it? Either way, it appears that the real losers in this situation are the voters in Cecil County... ...as they are once again being lied to by the political class.
