The Generous Giant There was a giant who lived in the white mountains of New Hampshire. He was a kindly soul but his size made him seem fearsome. At nearly eight feet tall he was a sight to behold. The disease was Acromegaly a disorder of the pituitary gland causing massive growth which never ends. The disease progresses leaving the person crippled and eventually they would die usually before age 40. The giant went to the town shop and everyone greeted him. Some mocked him because of his size. Others were afraid of him. Over time his illness began to take a foothold. He suffered from severe back pain and his knees barely had the power to hold up his massive frame. His breathing was labored and the pain slowed him down. Yet despite the limited movement he was still a joy to be around. He would go and play cards with the guys and when it came to beer drinking it was as if he was drinking water. He drank until all his friends were out like lights! One day he got out of bed and both of his overburdened knees shattered under the weight. He had surgeries but they were unable to help him. He would never walk again. It is not a problem. he said. I walk with Jesus so I will never be crippled. I trust in my savior. He wrote his will and since he had no one to leave his property to he donated it to the town to make a state park. It had many many acres and it was lovely to view. Three days later he went to sleep in his bedroom. His housekeeper found him dead the next day. He looked so peaceful lying there. He had a smile on his face and she knew the faith he had was indeed the truth. His big heart just could not beat anymore. The look on his face was enough. Thru her tears she called the funeral home. Everyone who attended his funeral was in tears. He was a kind loving man with a heart of gold. He enjoyed his cigars and his farmland. He made things special for those around him and now with the grace of Jesus he found a way home where no one would mock him about his size. In the sky the cloud took on his image and the attenders knew he was at peace. The End
