The German stock market closed good and steady after volatile trading on Wednesday. Investors were holding off prior to the publication in the evening of the minutes of the October meeting of the US Federal Reserve, hoping for additional information on the future monetary policy of the central bank. The Federal Reserve had only recently completed its asset purchase programme. The first rate hikes are expected in the coming year. The DAX gained 0.2 per cent to close at 9,473 points after the German leading index had climbed to 9,522 points in intraday trading. After achieving one record high after another, the New York stock exchanges took a breather on Wednesday. The Dow Jones Index ended up very little changed to close at 17.685 points. The broader S&P 500 was down 0.2 per cent to close at 2,048 points. Both market barometers had closed at new record highs on the previous day. The index of the Nasdaq technology market lost 0.6 per cent to close at 4,675 points. The FTSE 100 lost 0.19 per cent to close at 6,696.60 points yesterday. This morning, the S&P future is losing 3.25 points, but this is only slightly below its fair value. If you want to read more, please follow the link and subscribe for free.
