BURSARY OPPORTUNITIES (RE-ADVERTISEMENT) The Gert Sibande District Municipality recognises the need to develop key skills in line with its business needs as well as those of the community in which it operates. The Municipality is committed to promoting the skills development initiatives of the Republic of South Africa, as well as repositioning itself as an employer of choice for graduates. Accordingly, the Institution has developed a bursary scheme to enable a limited number of promising young South African students within Mpumalanga and particularly the Gert Sibande District, selected on merit, to acquire tertiary qualifications in specified fields of study at certain recognised Tertiary Educational Institutions in SA. The Municipality is inviting students within the Gert Sibande District to apply for bursaries to be awarded for the 2015 academic year in the following fields of study: • ENGINEERING (CIVIL & ELECTRICAL) • AGRICULTURE • INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY • MUNICIPAL/ENVIRONMENT HEALTH • FINANCE Minimum requirements: • Applicants must have been admitted or are in the process of admission at a recognised South African Higher Education Institution for full-time studies towards a formal undergraduate qualification aligned to the National Qualification Framework (NQF) • Applicants must be South African citizens resident in the Gert Sibande District and from previously disadvantaged groups (especially women and people living with disabilities) • Applicants must not: * Be beneficiaries of other bursary schemes * Have signed a contract of employment * Have accepted a training contract with any other company/institution • Applicants must be willing to be interviewed by GSDM representatives when necessary.
