The Ghana FA and the Black Stars players have always maintained a point. That theres no basis in questioning the huge amount of winning bonuses and appearnce fees paid to them for their World Cup qualificationn because at the end of the day, FIFA would reward Ghana with over $8million. Agreed. So the government of Ghana solely funded the team throughout the qualifiers and preparation towards the World Cup. Now the team is back again for the Afcon qualifiers. According to the GFA spokesperson Ibrahim Sannie Daara, the winning bonuses have been mainted at $10,000. Ghana will play 6 matches. If we manage to win 5 matches, each of the 23 players will earn $50,000. Lets assume the entire technical team and backroom staff will earn $100,000. And so in total, the winning bonuses alone will cost the government and the good people of Ghana an amount of $1.3m. Put aside the governments provision of business class air tickets (if Im right). Lets put aside the hotel accommodation for all the matches. Lets assume those expenses are going to cost $300,000 for all six matches, that will in total cost $1.550million. Then after qualification, the GFA will prepare a budget to the government for the teams campaign in Morocco 2015. During the South Africa 2013 Afcon, Ghana budgeted for $8 million so lets asume we maintain that for next years tournament. So that in addition to the cost and expenses of the qualifiers will ad up to $9.550 million. (NINE AND A HALF A MILLION AMERICCAN DOLLARS) And unlike the FIFA World Cup, CAF pays a nation absolutely NOTHING for qualifying to the AFCON. And Provided we go to Morocco to even win the Afcon trophy, the prize money for winning the Afcon is $1.5 million (ONE AND A HALF A MILLION AMERICAN DOLLARS). If you have a Makola calculator, subtract what we spend from what we eventually tend to gain. The difference is in your face. The excess, profit or LOSS is in your pocket, in the coffers of the government of Ghana. And this cycle has gone of for over three fruitless decades. So apart from the Black Stars winning against Lesotho, Swaziland, Uganda, Cape Verde, Niger, Sudan, Malawi, Guinea etc, and getting paid $10,000 each for a win over these minnow nations. And sending the ordinary fans into TEMPORAL frenzy, ecstasy and wild jubilation. Supporters boozing and getting knocked down to death on the streets and going back to sleep in darkness, WHAT EXACTLY DOES THE GOVERNMENT OF GHANA, AND THE ORDINARY GHANAIAN FAN GETS FROM FOOTBALL. We have no trophy to show for our show-offs, yet we have no profit. So wey kind of business venture be this??
