The Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Louisville is seeking cast and chorus for THE SORCERER, to be produced March 21-23, 2014 at The Vault1031. THE SORCERER is one of Gilbert & Sullivans earlier comic operas. The action takes place on the grounds of an English manor and involves the effects of a magic love potion on the entire village! Our production will be set in the year 1912, and is inspired by the costumes and characters of Downton Abbey. Stage Director: Kathy Norton Music Director: Jeanne-Marie Rogers Accompanist: Elizabeth Schaltenbrand Auditions will be held November 3 and 4 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM at The Vault1031, 1031 S. 6th St. Please prepare a song from any Gilbert & Sullivan opera. Rehearsals will begin in January, 2014. The following principal roles will be cast: John Wellington Wells (aka The Sorcerer) - patter baritone. Looking for either an experienced magician who sings or an experienced singer who is willing to learn some magic tricks. Sir Marmaduke (father of Alexis) - baritone Alexis (engaged to Aline) - tenor Dr. Daly (vicar of the village church) - baritone Notary (elderly official) - bass Lady Sangazure (mother of Aline) - alto Aline (engaged to Alexis) – soprano Mrs. Partlet (village matron) - alto Constance (daughter of Mrs. Partlet) - soprano II or high mezzo
