The Global Canopy Programme is happy to announce the launch of new analyses on the REDD Desk on legal preparedness for REDD+ in Indonesia, Mexico and Lao PDR. Funded by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, and developed in collaboration with Climate Focus with support from GLOBE International, the analyses look at how REDD+ fits within current legislation and how it is affected by conflicts between laws, institutions, or legislative gaps within domestic law and policy. Results of this study can be read online, in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese: theredddesk.org/countries/mexico/legal_framework theredddesk.org/countries/laos/legal_framework theredddesk.org/countries/indonesia/legal_framework This work feeds into GCP’s programme of work on legal frameworks for REDD+ and GCP’s “Little REDD+ Book of Law”, due in mid-2014. Ongoing dialogues on this topic will be continued throughout the year, with a side event held at UNFCCC COP19 in November 2013.
