The Goethe-Instituts secretary general, Johannes Ebert, was visibly devastated by the news of yesterdays attack on the editors of the Paris-based satire magazine Charlie Hebdo, in which 12 people were killed. Political satire, comics and cartoons are inherent parts of the culture in Germany and elsewhere. In addition to showing solidarity with our French friends following this horrible act, its important that our cultural department makes our stance known: we are all Charlie Hebdo! #JeSuisCharlie
