The Golden Girls- Thong Dee and Boon Yuen first day of retirement and freedom: What a beautiful and very emotional morning. Tears of Joy as we watch these beautiful old ladies explore their new home. They didnt eat much during the night, they were still recovering from the drive, but today are looking happy and strong and eating well. The owner smiled all morning, for the first time his girls were chain free wondering through the cool stream giving their old and tired, feet and ankles a soak without heavy chains. They explored all the sleeping areas of the other elephants and wondered through the grassfields where we gave them chopped banana tree stems. The other elephants are currently out wondering the forest, they had their trunks high during the evening sniffing the air, they could smell the new arrivals. Kham Mee and Boon caught a whiff of them first yesterday afternoon when they just came home from the forest, Boon was a bit nervous and he bellowed an almighty bellow almost in fear of the new smells and then moved away very quickly with his mother Kham Mee. Maybe Mae Kam and Mae Jumpee might meet the new ladies after their walk in the forest today. We wonder what they will think of them when they meet!? Your all amazing, together we have been able to give two more elephants the opportunity to feel freedom and live like elephants and provide a small wage (rent) to the owner so that he can feed himself and his family. What an achievement!!! Trunks up for positive change!! Together we can and already do achieve great things. Xx
