The Gospel for this morning taught us of what we can expect if we - TopicsExpress

The Gospel for this morning taught us of what we can expect if we follow the life of the Rich Man without a name or Lazaraus, a humble soul remembered by God. What is most striking is that fact that in Hades there will be a divide preventing us from moving into the Joy of Heaven as we must Repent for the Kingdom is at hand... Life often dulls or distracts our senses from preparing for Abrahams bosom... but the Church will remind us, the door to Heaven is open but will be shut and now is the time to act... with love! The Rich Man found a divide in the next life because he set up a divide or gulf between himself and Lazarus in this life. He placed his worth, his wealth, and his cares above Lazaraus, he set up gate not only around his home but his heart, never hearing the cries of Lazarus for his pride brought hardened his hearing. The devil wants us to believe there are walls between us but we are all brothers and sisters and of the same worth. Our only enemies are the demons and never another human being. If we do not see Christ in the beggar we will never see him in the chalice says St. John Chrysostom, so may we always look for that good image of Christ in others for they themselves may have forgotten He is there. We journey on the road to salvation together as a body of Christians with everyone we meet possibly being an Angel or Christ Himself but no matter who it is, we are called to love no matter the occasion, weather, date or time... love in Christs name is the humble bridge that brings us to Abrahams Bosom, that leads us out of the gate of a fallen earthly mansion and into the choirs of Heaven. Amen!
