The Gospel of Salvation Which gospel for today? There are many different gospels in the Bible but there is only one gospel that saves today. It is called the gospel of Christ and it was dispensed and committed exclusively to the Apostle Paul by the risen, ascended Lord Jesus Christ. You can only find this gospel of salvation written in the epistles of Paul - Romans through Philemon. The gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation. The gospel of Christ tells us that Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and God the Father resurrected Him for our justification. God made Him to be sin for us so that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. There is nothing we can do to earn the righteousness of God on our own. We needed a savior and God provided one. Salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in the finished work of the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ on the Cross. Its all about Him. We all need a saviour. None of us are good. We are all sinners. We are all born sinners. We are not sinners because we commit sins. Instead we commit sins because we are born that way. There is nothing that we can do (or stop doing) on our own that will make us righteous in the eyes of God. The price that must be paid for our sins is death. Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as BY ONE MAN SIN ENTERED INTO THE WORLD, AND DEATH BY SIN; AND SO DEATH PASSED UPON ALL MEN, FOR THAT ALL HAVE SINNED: Romans 3:10 As it is written, THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, no, not one: Romans 3:12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; THERE IS NONE THAT DOETH GOOD, NO, NOT ONE. Romans 3:23 For ALL HAVE SINNED, AND COME SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD; Romans 6:23 For THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Now the good news…God provided us with a saviour. We see here in 1 Corinthians the context is the gospel of salvation for today - this gospel was dispensed and committed to the Apostle Paul; and that gospel has a specific name: the gospel of Christ. 1 Corinthians 9:16 For though I PREACH THE GOSPEL, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! 1 Corinthians 9:17 For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, A DISPENSATION OF THE GOSPEL IS COMMITTED UNTO ME. 1 Corinthians 9:18 What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel. We see here in Romans the gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation. Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST: for it IS THE POWER OF GOD UNTO SALVATION to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Back to 1 Corinthians where we see the gospel by which you are saved. If we connect the dots back to Romans 1:16 we know this is the gospel of Christ the power of God unto salvation which was dispensed and committed to the Apostle Paul (1 Corinthians 9). 1 Corinthians 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you THE GOSPEL which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 1 Corinthians 15:2 BY WHICH also YE ARE SAVED, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. Now we see the content of the gospel. It is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ according to the gospel of Christ which was dispensed and committed exclusively to the Apostle Paul by the risen, ascended Lord Jesus Christ. Christ died FOR our sins; he was buried; and was resurrected. It is the WHY of the Cross. 1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS according to the scriptures; 1 Corinthians 15:4 And that HE WAS BURIED, AND that HE ROSE AGAIN the third day according to the scriptures: In Romans 4 we see the reason for the resurrection of Jesus Christ according to the gospel of Christ. Romans 4:24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; Romans 4:25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was RAISED AGAIN FOR OUR JUSTIFICATION. Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: In 2 Corinthians we see that God made Christ to be sin for us. The Godhead did all of this so that we can be made the righteousness of God. When we trust in the finished work of the Godhead according to the gospel of Christ, the power of God unto salvation we become righteous in the eyes of God. It is the only way to be saved. 2 Corinthians 5:21 FOR HE HATH MADE HIM TO BE SIN FOR US, who knew no sin; THAT WE MIGHT BE MADE THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD in him. We see in Ephesians that we are saved by grace alone through faith alone. Ephesians 2:8 For BY GRACE ARE YE SAVED THROUGH FAITH; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Ephesians 2:9 NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast. There are many different promises of salvation in the Bible. But there is only one promise of salvation that is available to humanity today in the dispensation of the grace of God. This is the gospel of Christ that was dispensed and committed exclusively to the Apostle Paul by the risen, ascended Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 3:1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, Ephesians 3:2 If ye have heard of THE DISPENSATION OF THE GRACE OF GOD which is given me to you-ward: Galatians 1:11 But I certify you, brethren, that THE GOSPEL WHICH WAS PREACHED OF ME IS NOT AFTER MAN. Galatians 1:12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. It is Gods will that all people be saved. That is all people without exception and all people without distinction. 1 Timothy 2:3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 1 Timothy 2:4 WHO WILL HAVE ALL MEN TO BE SAVED, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 1 Timothy 2:6 WHO GAVE HIMSELF A RANSOM FOR ALL, to be testified in due time. Stop trying to earn salvation on your own and start trusting in the gospel of YOUR salvation and you are saved unto the day of redemption. You hear the gospel of your salvation (the gospel of Christ). You comprehend and understand what you hear. You believe that Christ died for your sin, was buried, and God the Father resurrected Him for your justification and most importantly you TRUST it and YOU ARE SAVED. Present tense salvation…its a done deal and the Holy Spirit puts on a seal on you that cannot be broken...no matter what. Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Ephesians 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. --- Delta Charis
