The Gospel today speaks of the Transfiguration of Jesus Christ, - TopicsExpress

The Gospel today speaks of the Transfiguration of Jesus Christ, the appearance of Moses and Elijah, and the confirmation from On High -- all witnessed by three of his closest disciples. By this act, Jesus reassures his followers that whatever the travails, trials and difficulties in this life, keeping faith in Him and following His commandments will ultimately be rewarded -- in Heaven. In human terms, for example, not falling into the temptation of stealing and enjoying riches and fame that are ill-gotten will probably result in a poor and miserable existence on this materialistic earth. But in leading a moral and ethical life, ones dignity and self-respect are preserved -- at bahala na si Lord pagdating ng katapusan... Habang naririto tayo sa mundo, na puno ng luha at pighati, our only reward is being truly at peace with ourselves and with God for not doing what our leaders are doing. And what are their reasons for doing these things? Who knows? That is between them and their conscience -- if they still have any. Many of us are angry at these leaders of ours. We simply cant understand why they are doing this, and why our laws are powerless against them. But then, if we really think about it -- if these leaders are no longer even afraid of divine justice, of accounting themselves to God for their actions -- how much more would they be afraid of mans laws and prohibitions against the exercise of their desires and wants?
