The Government has to clarify its stand on the One-Rank One-Pension (OROP) scheme and implement the same without delay. The scheme, a long standing demand by the Services was cleared by the UPA Government and stands to benefit the entire armed forces category in the country. It is estimated that the implementation of the scheme would cost about Rs 9,000 crore. A discussion was demanded on the scheme and a clarification of the Government’s stand is required at the earliest to eliminate the prevailing confusion over its effective implementation.
