The Government of Liberia and some citizens occupying the military - TopicsExpress

The Government of Liberia and some citizens occupying the military barrack in Unification Town have reached a crucial decision in the fight against the deadly Ebola virus. These citizens have been occupying this mini barrack for many years. Interestingly, in anticipation to receiving the U S military personnel on grounds, Government had asked her citizens occupying the barrack to relocate so as to, peradventure, have the facilities renovated and have the space prepared for the US personnel or the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) personnel in what seem to be the final onslaught on this Ebola madness. Critical in this deal is the Representative of the District in which the barrack is located. Rep. Ballah G. Zayzay has been on his feet to ensuring that his citizens receive some sort of relocation package. Shuttling between the Ministries of Finance and Development Planning and Defense, Rep. Zayzay pressed on, and the Government consented with ease, considering the urgency attached to seeing Ebola kicked out of Liberia. Today was a compromise realized Day. A joint team of the Ministries of Finance and Development Planning and Defense drove in with the relocation package. It was a scene to witness; not only that the citizens were excited for the package but mainly due to the fact that progress in the fight against the Ebola virus is gaining concrete grounds - to hear of citizens leaving where they have lived for several, years to accommodate the US military personnel and local assistants like the AFL was what brought joy to the citizens. The package included LD25,000 and two bags of the 25kg rice for former military personnel occupying the barrack whereas LD5,000 and one bag of the 25kg rice was received by non-military (civilian) personnel. The package was given to each family head. Expecting this exercise to get underway, Rep. Zayzay, as a Lawmaker, extended invitation to the Legislative Staff Anti-Ebola Information and Sensitization Team, LEAST. Due to constraints, only the Coordinator of the LEAST could be in attendance to witness yet another milestone in our collective fight against the dreadful Ebola virus. LEAST says thanks to Rep. Zayzay and the teams from the Ministries of Defense and Finance and Development Planning for this major achievement in the fight. The occupants have up to October 10 to have the barrack completely emptied.
