The Greatest Game episode: A Bright Future missiondevelopment/2013/06/bright-future/ Continued from Aurora Bright… It had been a propitious introduction to Victor at Café Carolina. She had finished her shift and was relaxing in the lounge with a glass of wine. “Is this seat taken?” a courtly voice murmured. She turned and saw a well-dressed older gentleman. Used to being propositioned, she was confident. “No, please.” She gestured. They chatted, and with some interest, Victor gave her his card. “Please call me sometime. I may have an opening for you after you graduate from university.” Aurora made the call and she hadn’t been disappointed. As she was easing into her Mercedes CL600, her phone played the opening bars of Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 in G Minor. Glancing at the screen, she saw his name. I’ve read the portfolio and I remember him from last year.” The briefing materials were highly detailed. He knew Aurora’s memory was almost photographic. She was more than ready. Besides, he’d trained her well and she had him on speed-dial. “Very good. As usual…” “You’re available,” she said. “I hate to break this off, Victor, but I’m pulling up to the club.” “Don’t tire yourself,” he said unnecessarily. Aurora had plenty of energy and knew how to pamper herself prior to an engagement. “La la la, gotta go, honey.” She laughed as she clicked off. “That should ruffle the old owl’s feathers.” Popping the trunk, she bounced out of the car, smiled at the attendant and hoisted her bag. With the easy confidence of an extraordinarily pretty girl, she strutted to the clubhouse, putting an extra roll in her hips and spring in her step. “What a life!” she thought to herself behind her Fendis.
