The Greatest Gift “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given…” (Isaiah 9:6, KJV). For many people around the world this time of the year is the most holy, for it sets in motion God’s perfect plan. It is the time when God gave to all mankind—past, present and future—the greatest gift we will ever receive. This is the time the world takes notice with lights twinkling and trees trimmed and decorated. Whether the setup is elaborate or simple makes no difference—the world stops to recognize this time of the year. With ribbons wrapped around packages, there is a sense of expectation in the air. However, any decoration we could create pales in comparison to how God decorated the skies on that night with HIS glory (Luke 2:9, 13–14) when He sent His gift into the world in the form of a baby—Jesus. Many times in all of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, we forget the greatest gift of all. Wrapped in that gift is our peace, our joy, our hope, our purpose. Wrapped in that gift is our Healer, Deliverer, Protector, Provider, and Way Maker. He is the One Who would die and take away our sins, the holy Lamb of God. Take a moment and lift your eyes toward heaven all bright with the stars and thank Father God for the greatest gift you have ever received. Unwrap this gift and remember that your heavenly Father loved you so much He gave this gift of His Son to the world (John 3:16). Share this gift with others that may experience true life which is only found in Jesus. Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, thank You for the greatest gift of all—Jesus. I will keep Him close in my heart and mind, remembering that He is the only way to true life and peace. I thank You for opportunities to share Him with others that they, too, may receive the greatest gift of all. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
