To top it all off, the most widespread paradigm of counseling psychology (not Freud, not Jung, certainly not Adler!), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (from Albert Ellis and Aaron Beck), has its roots in Stoicism. This gentle yet deep path (People are disturbed not by events that happen to them, but by their view of them--Epictetus) would complement any Daoist way.
