The Green Goblins have made final 4 again For a 5th consecutive year the Green Goblins have made it to the last game week on the 6 a side calendar after winning their quarter final last night against Dalz in what was an epic encounter. The Goblins who played with just 5 men (more to come on this later) showed real heart having to come from behind 3 times. The first was a Seb Bell nutmeg from a beautiful ball from Toohey. The second was Chino dancing around 3 players at the top of the box and blasting it straight into the corner getting the Goblins back to 2-2 at half time. The young Dalz boys came out firing after the half though and scored another early one and then decided to start chirping Trents touch which proved to be their undoing with Trent getting the ball with 5mins to go and isolated up top he turned his man and whacked it from a good 15 yards out and found the bottom corner and ended regular time at 3-3. Voin was a rock in goals particularly in the shootout where he saved all but 1 attempt from the Dalz boys with the Goblins eventual 4-1 winners after Voin, Trent, Seb and Chino all scoring. The Goblins played smart football and the experience of past finals campaigns really showed and helped them overcome being a man short. Toohey who is under going scans this week after a possible knee injury continued to battle late in the game and held the Goblins back line together with some great chat while Deane who played superb and really put his hand up for a spot in the starting line up next week after being a bench player until now run his absolute guts out along with Seb and Chino. As for the players that didnt rock up, today the Goblins board issued a statement saying the 3 players that were not present are going to be fined $15 each and will be attending an extra training camp later this week to make sure they are fully ready for the crunch games this monday night. At the moment draw is not out as for who the Goblins will play in the Semi Final but they dont care who they get whether it be their old rivals Shamrocks, the only team to beat them in the regular season united nations or the battlers Bens Cousins the Goblins are confident they can beat anyone on the way to the final. The starting line up will be announced Thursday for the first game with the Goblins yet to confirm the rumour that they have flown a marquee player in from England for the game. Corporate packages along with general admission will be available for purchase Thursday as well. For now though the Goblins would like to thank firstly the 5 lads who played last night to get them this far but more importantly the fans who continue to show up each week and support the team, you know who you are.
